Who are we:

BEE FARM ECUADOR is a project for schooling and informing people about the benefits of honeybees in our planet. Our goal is to replace fear for gratitude and respect towards this wonderful insect, the honeybee.

Our trajectory:

For more than 15 years ago we began environmental education with visitors, volunteers and tourists. We have influenced hundreds, if not thousands of people about the life, natural history and benefits of honeybees to humans and our planet. Providing experiences and talks in our farm, a place that is a refugee for honey bees so that they can live wild and free without much human intervention. The bees arrived years ago to inspire us with their lessons and work. 

Why do we need your help:

The summer of 2015 an eruption from the Cotopaxi Volcano affected the operation, ashes corroded and damage our roofs and covering, especially the ones used in the rooms for education, workshops, and gatherings.

We believe the lack of education about the threats that bees are facing, is one of the reasons for the collapse they suffer today as a specie.

Since humans began to perceive honey as a mere edulcorant, rather than a medicine, and to think of bees as mere livestock, rather than a Complex Living Organism, they began to suffer as a specie. The manipulation and undervaluation of the liquid gold they make, we call honey is the reason people perceive them as factories.

 Our work goes beyond production, it consists of helping people remember and revalue why this insects, were worshiped in the past, even considered sacred in some ancient cultures.

The work of the bees and the products from the hive are precious gifts to us, we can never forget this fact. Is our job not to let them become extinct.

This is the reason why we need your support, just as the bees support themselves. We, the people can also support each other and with your contribution, we can continue our work towards bee conservation. 

What is the objective of this campaign:

The goal is to repair and rebuild the covering and roofs of the rooms we use for educaction, workshops and gatherings. 

What will we do if we go beyond our goal:

After that, we will continue to improve interpretation material for educational purposes, paths and facilities.

The volunteer rooms also need work on ventilation, roofs and facades. Showers need fixing. We will keep regenerating the habitat and working on bee friendly projects, edible forests, and habitat restoration, always with the goal of self sufficiency.

What if we don't reach our goal:

If we don't get there, we will buy the materials with the contributions and do it little by little. Like we have worked all these years, focusing on the workshop, training, and gathering spaces. And probably with the experience will make another campaign in the future.

Quienes somos:

Bee Farm Ecuador es un emprendimiento familiar dedicado a la regeneración de un espacio para proteger insectos benéficos e inspirar una cultura de respeto especial por las abejas.

Nuestra trayectoria:

Hace más de 15 años iniciamos nuestro trabajo regenerando habitas y trabajando en educación ambiental.  Hemos trabajado con los Gobiernos locales y ONG's para contribuir a la protección de ojos de agua y manejo de residuos sólidos. Como fundación trabajamos con el FONAG (Fondo para la protección del Agua), USAID (United States International Development) y la UTE (Universidad Tecnológica Equinoccial) para evitar que se siga destruyendo el último remanente de bosque de ceja Andina del flanco Oriental del Volcán Corazón, trabajando con la comunidad y capacitando en agroturísmo.  Llegaron las abejas a inspirarnos aún más con su trabajo y sus enseñanzas. Hemos recibido visitantes, voluntarios y pupilos. El proyecto ganó fuerza en el 2014 con una alianza turística que nos permitió compartir la sabiduría de las abejas con cientos de personas.

Porque necesitamos tu ayuda?

El verano del 2015 una pequeña erupción del Cotopaxi nos quebró y con el tiempo las cenizas han corroído todas las cubiertas, especialmente las que usamos para educación, talleres y encuentros.

Creemos que la falta de educación sobre la verdadera importancia de las abejas y sus derivados es una de las razones del colapso que sufren hoy en día.

Desde que los humanos comenzaron a percibir a la miel como un mero edulcorante, en lugar de medicina, y a percibir a las abejas como un animal a explotar, en lugar de un súper organismo sagrado, ellas comenzaron a sufrir fragmentación, sobre manipulación y desvalorización del oro líquido que producen.

Nuestro trabajo va mas allá de la producción, consiste en recordar lo que realmente son y simbolizan.

Hay un Llamado urgente a mujeres y hombres despiertos, niños y niñas a revalorizar su trabajo y sus preciosos regalos.

El llamado es de volver a la unidad, apoyarnos como ellas se apoyan. Cada abeja es una célula de un gran organismo llamado colonia, donde cada una de ellas parece pequeña, pero juntas son grandes.

Cual es el objetivo de la campaña?

Tu contribución pequeña o grande es como una de estas células aportando a que reconstruyamos los techos  de nuestro Centro de Interpretación llamado La Colmena, para seguir educando. Especialmente las zonas donde más trabajamos. La Colmena (Centro de Interpretación), la zona de comedor, talleres y tejido, y los baños de los visitantes.

Que haremos si superamos la meta?

Si superamos la meta Festonearemos (como la imagen de la campaña), convocaremos a un encuentro grande con personas de la misma ideología, artistas, artesanos, intuitivos, bailarinas, etc... Invitaremos a la comunidad permacultural y residuos cero para conectarnos y ser parte del proceso de transición que vive la humanidad bien sólidos y sostenidos. Trabajando como abejas, apoyándonos entre nosotros, creando esa sinergia que todos buscamos.

Seguiremos mejorando el material y las facilidades para la interpretación. Senderos. Las habitaciones de los voluntarios necesitan ser mejorados con ventilación, techos y fachadas. Las dos duchas de los voluntarios necesitan ser arregladas. Seguiremos regenerando y trabajando en proyectos amigables con las abejas y bosques comestibles, siempre con la meta de lograr la autosuficiencia.

Que pasa si no logramos la meta?

Si no logramos la meta compraremos los materiales con lo que hayamos recaudado, y lo haremos poco a poco, como lo hemos hecho todos estos años. Nos enfocaremos en los espacios usados para capacitaciones, talleres y encuentros. Y probablemente con la experiencia lanzaremos otra campaña en el futuro.
